Decide For Yourself

In every aspect of our lives we read, study, discuss, think about, reason and then come to a conclusion regarding matters of life.  Our decisions are made after we have looked into things for ourselves.   If the decision we make will impact us greatly, we spend more time making sure we truly understand, before making a conclusion.  If it is matter of life and death, even so much more time and energy needs to be spent.

What about knowing God?  What about studying the Word of God as he has revealed it to mankind from the days of Prophet Adam, Noah, Abraham and others?    The Holy Scriptures tell us, "In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways…" (Injeeel, Heb. 1:1) Yes, one of the main ways God has spoken to man is through the prophets. In the past, God appointed certain men to proclaim His Word and to write it down in books (scrolls). The Word of God says, "You must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit [of God]." (Injeel, 2 Pet. 1:20,21)

Do you what the Prophets have spoken and understand it yourself?  Do you decide for your self?  Or do you let some scholar (Arabic:  Ulema)  decide for you?  In this series we share what the Word of God says and let you decide for yourself what it teaches.  We keep our commentaries and interpretations (Arabic; Tafsir) limited, so you may understand, think about, reason and Decide For Yourself what God’s Word says.

Decide for yourself by checking out the individual articles below.

Decide For Yourself: Does everything come from God?
"The doctrine of creation," Tillich explains, "does not describe an event. It points to the situation of something created and to its correlate, the divine creativity”. Would you agree with him? Not everyone is so cautious in speaking about the source of the universe. What are some alternative views? What is the Quran’s perspective on it? The Bible has much to say about creation; in fact the first chapter of the first book of the Bible declares what happened at the time of creation. To read more click here

Decide For Yourself: What is God like?
According to religious polls nearly everyone believes in an ultimate power or fundamental reality on which everything else depends. Something, they think, is basic. But what? What are their Gods like? How do you think of God? For one retired high school French teacher, God is nothing other than "Mother Nature." Others say God is unknowable? What do the scriptures teach? Decide For Yourself: How Sinful is Man?
As some look upon life, the most important issues for them are technological, intellectual, sensual, or the political. But the Holy Scriptures teach that the most crucial of all issues are moral and spiritual. “Out of the heart are the issues of life”. The central question that needs to be considered is this - is man at heart morally good, evil or neutral? To read more click here

Decide For Yourself: Did the changeless God become a man?
The problem of change long perplexed the Greek philosophers. They wondered how that which is could become something it is not. For example, what about the philosopher's socks? If darned until every bit of yarn is replaced, are they the same socks? Can they remain what they were and become something else? So the students of the scripture wonder how Christ could remain God and become something else, a baby. God becoming a man – is it an amazing or a foolish concept? To read more please click here
